The Future Of Social

We recently took part in a seminar that was focused on the future of social media and digital marketing. What we came away with is that user experience is going to be the biggest way to target and attract clients.

One interesting fact we learned is how Netflix is capitalizing on user experience. It’s crazy, but Netflix is actually working on Choose Your Own Outcome series. Remember those Choose Your Own Adventure series growing up? Where it tells you if you want X to happen turn to page 64 (or whatever). Supposedly that is the future of Binge Watching. So, if this is true, you and your bestie could be watching the same series at the same time with two very different story lines. Cool or Not? Some of the South Made staff thinks this defeats the whole purpose of binging. However, Netflix is using the idea of content that is hyper user-focused to attract an (even larger) client base.

What does this mean for you and your digital marketing strategy? You need to focus your efforts on user experience. Wether it’s your website or your social media you need to engage your audience.

Let’s go deeper on the social media side of things. Everyday, over 200 million people use Instagram Stories. That’s now more than SnapChat – making it one of the fastest growing platforms, ever! And, Facebook Messanger is also gaining steady growth. In fact, most users reported that they are more likely to DM a business then call or email. Basically you need to be highly accessible, and active on your various social media platforms. As far as Instagram marketing- it’s all about the story. Instagram stories are getting more views and impressions then regular posts and can generate more interactions.

If you’re looking for ways to engage your audience we suggest to start with custom images. These will perform better than stock photos. Also, use your data. Your posts should revolve around data, and not just posting to post. Think about the purpose of each caption, each picture. What do you want this post to do? Drive traffic to your website? Answer a question?  Invoke a reaction? Buy a product? Ask a question?

If you’d like more information about how to improve your social media efforts, we’d love to chat.
