Best Social Media Platforms for Marketing

Social Media Marketing is a powerful way for all businesses (small, large and everyone in between) to reach a target market and enhance brand awareness. This week we help explain which social media platforms are best and how to use some of the most popular features.

Instagram

With more than 1 million users worldwide[1] Instagram is an amazing tool for marketing. With features like stories and in app shopping Instagram is quickly becoming the best way to engage a large audience.

Through stories brands are able to tag partners, geo tag locations, apply hashtags, add music, and increase engagement through polls and questions. Using the questions feature in Insta stories is a great way to understand your audiences’ view quickly and effectively. Instagram also now lets you add action buttons which can be integrated with third party apps to make reservations or appointments, purchase tickets, and start an online order.

Another feature to note is paid advertisements which allow your brand to reach a target demographic for a certain amount of time for a small fee. Thus, generating more engagement with your content. Facebook

Facebook has a ton of features that are helpful for marketing. One of the best features is the ability to monitor your competitor’s top posts. Simply click on the “Posts” tab in Facebook Insights and then click on “Top Posts From Pages You Watch”.

A great tool to feature a certain product or service is the ability to pin a post to the top of your page. This way everyone that visits your page will be able to see the post immediately.

A feature Facebook shares with Instagram is the ability to run ads geared toward a targeted demographic. Facebook also allows you to schedule future posts by date and time. This way you can reach your audience at the prime time they are on Facebook.

Twitter

Twitter is becoming less apparent in 2019 due to the wildly popular Instagram. Nonetheless, Twitter is still relevant. Twitter is home to the original hashtag which is an easy way to reach more people and also create a brand hashtag.

Another cool feature Twitter has is Twitter lists which allow brands to create curated Twitter feeds with only certain accounts featured. This is a great way to increase reach across multiple accounts. As mentioned above, Twitter also allows you to pin certain tweets which can be great because it is the first thing someone sees when they come across your profile.

Twitter gives users the option to run ads, but we must note– aren’t as beneficial as ads on Facebook or Instagram. A great alternative to this is offering a “Twixclusive” which is a promotion only offered to Twitter users. By doing this you are able to see just how effective your content is.

Snapchat

Snapchat is last on our list. Ever since their controversial app update in early 2018 the app has faced backlash from users and brands alike. Most people stating that the app is now harder to use and confusing. The discover page is still popular but is mainly news subscriptions now and it’s hard for brands to reach a significant amount of users. It’s important to mention that this platform has a younger user demographic so depending on your target audience this may not be the best way to spend your valuable time.
